3 Day Monk has announced that it’s working on a new game, called The Hive. The Hive is a new round based First-Person-Looter-Shooter set in an NPC-filled, devastated world. The game promises to combine competitive FPS and RPG elements to deliver a unique experience.
According to the developers, The Hive will be a mix of online multiplayer combat, boss fights and events. These events will change with every new major content update. The team has also launched a Kickstarter campaign for this new FPS, aiming to raise $111K.
Players will be able to discover new areas, collect gear, improve their character and try to make it out alive. If players die, they’ll not only lose what they gathered up to this point, but also what they brought with them into this world.
The Hive will feature medium to large open maps. Players will start the game by creating their loadout and a spawn point. Each player will have an electronic device that they can upgrade with different “modules”. These devices are needed in order to extract from the game, as well as when upgraded to locate specific items they are currently looking for.
Players will collect weapons, armor, perks and miscellaneous items in order to defend yourself against other players, patrolling troops/militia, and folklore creatures. These creatures will appear randomly in some games. Indicators for such an event are changes to the environment or the malfunctioning of certain equipment. These creatures will drop unique items that have paranormal abilities and an extremely high value on the underground market. For example a key that has coordinates engraved in it which change every day. Every door in near proximity of these coordinates can then be opened with that key. Figuring out where those coordinates are, is one of the many puzzles the player has to solve.
The more time you spend gathering and fighting, the more difficult and dangerous the extraction is going to be due to an always declining amount of extraction zones. In order to extract you have to receive a designated extraction zone by using your electronic device. This will indicate a spot on the map where you need to go in order to leave, and the game will randomly generate these spots.
Enjoy!
