The closed beta phase for The Surge 2 is underway and appears to have Denuvo. However, Deck13 has confirmed that the final version will not be using it. So yeah, Steam users will at least be able to enjoy it without having to deal with this controversial anti-tamper tech.
As Deck13 confirmed earlier today.
“Hello, Denuvo will not be there on The Surge 2 at release.
Denuvo is only there for the timed closed beta currently ongoing, and will be deactivated afterward.”
So yeah, great news for all those that are looking forward to this particular title.
It’s worth noting that Wolfenstein: Youngblood, a game that was using the latest version of Denuvo, has been cracked. While other games are still safe, it appears that a specific group was able to crack its latest version. Now I don’t know how this group works and why it is cracking games at such a slow pace, or when X game will be cracked.
Still, it’s safe to assume that more games using the latest version of Denuvo will be cracked in the coming weeks. Unless of course the team discovered a bug in Wolfenstein: Youngblood that allowed it to crack it.
But anyway, The Surge 2 currently targets a September 24th release.
