Modder ‘sw3dg1n’ has released a new mod for The Witcher 3 that aims to significantly improve the game’s graphics. As its description reads, True Fires is a complete overhaul of fires, lights & shadows of the main game and HoS including numerous fixes.
True Fires drastically increases draw distances of fires, lights and related meshes and significantly improves shadows. Furthermore, it includes most of the fires from Hyadum27’s fantastic “New Fires” mod and, additionally, adds brand new ones.
Going into more details, this mod drastically increases the draw distance of all regular light sources. It also tweaks the brightness, radius, flickering and/or color of numerous light sources together with their shadows. Moreover, it adds shadows to several more light sources such as most hanging & standing lamps, several types of candles and candleholders, certain types of braziers including the ones in Sigismund’s bathhouse and Avallac’h’s laboratory, medium bonfires and more.
Thanks to these new light sources and shadows, the game can look better than its vanilla version. In order to showcase these graphical improvements, the modder has also released some comparison screenshots.
Speaking of The Witcher 3, you may be also interested in some other graphics mods for it. For instance, we strongly suggest downloading The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project. There is also an AI-enhanced Texture Pack that improves over 700 clutter textures. Additionally, there is a mod that enables high quality heads, lip movement & higher shadow resolution for all NPCs. You can also find a mod that brings 4K textures to Ciri, Yennefer and Triss Merigold.
You can download the True Fires Mod for The Witcher 3 from here. Do note, though, that this mod brings a noticeable performance hit.
Enjoy the following comparison screenshots (vanilla is on the left, whereas the modded version is on the right).
