A couple of days ago, we informed you about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt selling one million copies on GOG Galaxy. As we claimed back then, the overall PC sales were – according to our calculations – at least 30%. Well, it appears we were right on target.
As we said back in our article:
“This means that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sold, at least, 1.8 million copies on the PC. This basically means that the minimum percentage of the PC sales – compared to the total sales – is 30%. Again, this is pure speculation as we don’t have the full picture here.”
CD Projekt RED’s Karolina Gnas stated a couple of days ago that by the end of June 2015, 30% of the sales were on the PC. This basically means that PC felt slightly behind current-gen consoles (unless PS4 is outperforming Xbox One).
Furthermore, from the game’s total sales, 75% were from retail and 25% were from digital.
Do note however that due to the higher royalties that come with retail sales, that 25% (digital sales) amounted to half of the game’s overall revenue.
