Now this will definitely please a lot of – mainly old-school – gamers. In its latest Community Q&A, EIDOS Montreal revealed that there will be no QTEs (quick time events) on the new Thief game. As EIDOS Montreal’s Valerie Bourdeau claimed, the team is not implementing any kind of quick time events.
As Valerie said when this question came up:
“I was hoping someone would ask. Easy, we’re not implementing them. To begin with, there were very few instances of QTEs in the game; in fact there was only one in that whole hour-long E3 demo. However, given the strong reactions it evoked in the press and the community, it was an easy decision to do away with them entirely. So we’re not doing it. No quick time.”
So there you have it everyone – no QTEs in the upcoming Thief title.
Thief PC is being developed by Nixxes Software and will support – among other things – AMD’s Mantle API, therefore it will be interesting to see whether Unreal Engine 3 – a somehow old engine by today’s standards – can benefit from this low-level API.
Enjoy!
