Modder ‘vik9183’ has released an 8.3GB mod for the first The Witcher game that upscales all of its pre-rendered videos to 4K. In order to achieve this, vik9183 used AI techniques, similar to those we’ve seen in most of the latest HD Texture Packs we’ve been covering.
As the modder claimed, the original videos were at 1280×720. By using AI techniques, vik9183 was able to upscale them to 4K and retain their colors and art intact.
In order to showcase the new videos, vik9183 has also released a comparison video. However, it’s really difficult distinguishing the differences between them. So yeah, if you have bandwidth problems, I suggest skipping this mod. If, on the other hand, have no such issues, you can go ahead and download it from here.
In order to install the mod, you’ll have to unpack the archive and paste it to the “Override” folder inside “The Witcher / Data” (if there isn’t such a folder, create one).
Before closing, PC gamers can find a similar mod for the first Dragon Age game. Created by Kunnusta, this mod upscales all of the game’s videos from 720p to 1080p.
Have fun!
