Modder ‘oracus0’ has released a pretty cool mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. As its title suggests, Skygerfall allows you to play the entire main quest of Daggerfall in Skyrim.
What’s really cool here is that at the end of it you can choose to continue your adventures in Skyrim. As such, you can take all your loot, experience and new spells with you as you start playing Skyrim.
This project took oracus0 almost two years to complete. Its main purpose is to bring some of its magic and lore to Elder Scrolls fans of the Skyrim generation that would never otherwise experience it. It also aims to delight those fans of the original game that would love to see the Main Quest in an new engine. It’s also worth noting that Skygerfall comes with voice acting, re-mastered music and better graphics.
Speaking of new ways to experience Daggerfall, there is currently a fan remake of it in Unity Engine. However, this project aims to stay as close to the original material as possible. For instance, it features 2D sprites similar to those of the original version.
As the modder noted, the main quest of Daggerfall is a linear experience. Players are role-playing as the Emperor’s friend on an important mission and while the order in which they tackle these quests is their choice, it is assumed that they want to finish the Main Quest. Therefore, players won’t be able to refuse the quest-givers’ requests.
Alongside Skyblivion and Skywind, modders are trying to bring almost all TES games to Skyrim’s engine. And that’s something that we really appreciate.
