Genki has announced that Tokyo Xtreme Racer will hit Steam Early Access on January 23rd. Moreover, the team has shared the game’s official PC system requirements, as well as a gameplay video for it.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer is a new arcade racing game, set in a sealed-off future Tokyo. Players will compete for the fastest speed in their customized cars on the highways that weave through the city, aiming to reach the top.
The game will remain in Early Access for around four months. According to the devs, the EA version will have the story playable up until roughly the halfway mark, with a focus on “Spirit Point Battle” and car tuning features. There will be over 200 rival characters each with their own unique storylines, 50 playable cars, and over 180 kilometers of the Shuto Expressway to race upon. Player skill gains, a new feature for the franchise, will also be present in the Early Access release.
For gaming at 1080p/Low Settings, you’ll need an Intel Core i7-7700 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. The game will also require 12GB of free disk space.
Genki recommends using an Intel Core i7-13700 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060. With such a PC system, you will be able to run the game at 1080p/High settings. For the “Ultra” graphics settings, the devs recommend using a more powerful GPU.
Finally, you can find below the first gameplay video for this new racer. This video will give your first look at its in-game visuals. So, be sure to check it out.
It’s been a while since we got an arcade street racing game like this. So, I hope that Genki will refine its gameplay, and that they will add a variety of races to it. I also hope they offer a gripping story mode. There is a lot of potential here, so let’s hope that they will not drop the ball.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
