Okay admit it, you really wanted to get your hands on the MMO game that will be based on the Transformers universe the moment you heard about it. And who wouldn’t, especially when we are talking about this legendary robot franchise. Although the game is slated for a 2012, PC gamers will actually be able to find out this year its art direction and whether it will be similar to the cartoon series or the Michael Bay movies.
Speaking with Eurogamer, Kris Jones, the game’s executive producer said:
“We’re launching this in 2012, so it goes without saying that the beta will be soon.”
Jones has also revealed that the game is inspired took some nods from the recent cartoon series, Transformers: Prime – The Animated Series. Which to be honest was… well… not as good as the classic cartoon series.
Jones added that:
“We don’t want to pigeon-hole ourselves to just the toys, or just [Generation 1 1984-1993], or just Prime, or just the movies. We’ve been very clear that we want to take from all over the universe. That’s why it’s called Universe.”
Ironically, the best Transformers game we’ve ever played was War Of Cybetron in which the Transformers were similar to the G1 versions. Will Jagex be able to restore the image of the new Transformers? We’ll soon find out!
