It’s been a while since our last look on Otherland. gamigo and developer RealU are using the latest installment of their Otherland Making-of clips to present a new world simulation: Five Isle is a world comprised of five floating islands, each of which represents one of the five Chinese elements (fire, water, earth, wood, metal).
Ted Williams, author of the Otherland saga, is also featured on camera for the first time. Together with the developers of the heavy-hitting project, he explains the concepts behind the five-part world and the role of the player in unravelling the mysteries. Five Isle once was one island that combined the five Chinese elements in harmony. Gamers will learn over the course of their adventures how the island came to be sundered into five parts. The world was created especially for the Otherland MMO and is not a component in the best-selling novels.
Otherland is powered by Unreal Engine 3 and will be a free-to-play title. Those interested can head over at its official website and register!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
