Yesterday, we shared the first set of screenshots from Epic’ Unreal Engine 4. Well, time for some brand new shots as Wired has unveiled seven new shots from their gigantic feature. Unreal Engine 4 looks lovely but we have to admit that we were not shocked as much as when Epic showcased Unreal Engine 3, back in the days. Or when we saw the Samaritan Tech Demo. To put it simple; although the screenshots are not as impressive as the Samaritan Tech Demo, they look beautiful and up-to-date with what other modern/future game engines can do. Unreal Engine 4 will be officially revealed in E3, this June, so stay tuned for more. Enjoy!
UPDATE:
Since there’s been a lot of talk about UE4’s particle system, we decided to put CryEngine 2 to the test. Below you’ll find an UE4 shot with lots of particles (on the left) and a Crysis shot with an Extreme Particles Mod (on the right). Crysis was fully playable with that mod and ran fine even on our GTX295 (without slowdowns during the big explosions).

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
