Greg Coulthard has released UnrealCraft, an Unreal Engine 5.5 template that allows you to create Voxel Worlds with only blueprints. Basically, think of it as Minecraft in Unreal Engine 5. And, to be honest, this is actually pretty cool.
UnrealCraft comes with a procedural map generator and a block building system. There is also NPC support with NavMesh, Biome support, and a simple liquid propagation system. Plus, there are combinable noise functions for more complex terrains.
It’s also worth noting that UnrealCraft is packed with The Infinite World map. This is a Minecraft style procedurally generated world.
Now what’s cool here is that you can download a demo of it for free. So, if you want to give it a try, you can download its demo from this link.
Coulthard claims that the demo requires an RTX capable GPU and 16GB of RAM. Now I don’t know why there is an RTX requirement. After all, Unreal Engine 5.5’s Lumen and Nanite work perfectly on AMD’s hardware. Perhaps with “RTX capable GPU” the artist meant a GPU that can handle Ray Tracing?
Anyway, below you can find a video for UnrealCraft. This will give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from it. So, if you don’t want to try the demo, you can at least watch the video.
Now in case Coulthard’s sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the man behind the ports of Skyrim and Oblivion in Unreal Engine 5. And yes, I recommend trying them too.
Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, we recommend trying out these other free fan-made demos. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine. Don’t also forget the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5 or this free Attack on Titan game. And then we have the Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake in UE5.
Owners of high-end GPUs can also try these two tech demos. The first one features a Witcher-like environment. The second shows off a Rome Italian Town. Last month, we also shared a demo of King’s Field 2 in UE5. Oh, let’s also not forget this Cyberpunk/Blade Runner-inspired demo. Finally, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, a remake of Flappy Bird, a demo for Need for Speed: Underground 2, and a Diablo 2 Remake Demo. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
