Gabe Follower, a CS data miner/insider, has apparently leaked the first details for Valve’s upcoming game which will be called Deadlock. According to the leaker, Deadlock will be a competitive 6v6 third-person hero-based shooter.
Deadlock. Next Valve game. Previously known as Neon Prime, Citadel. Competitive third person hero-based shooter. 6 vs 6 battling on huge map with 4 lanes. Usable abilities and items. Tower defense mechanics. Fantasy setting mixed with steampunk. Magicians, weird creatures and…

Deadlock was previously codenamed as Neon Prime. In this game, players will battle on a huge map with 4 lanes. The game will also have usable abilities and items. Not only that but there might be some tower defense mechanics.
Basically, fast-paced interesting ADHD gameplay. Combination of Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Smite, Orcs Must Die.
Hero design pretty much inspired by Dota universe. Main map references modern steampunk European city (little bit like Half-Life). Initially game…

The leaker concluded that this will be a mix of Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Smite and Orcs Must Die. And… well… that’s not what I wanted to see from Valve.
What’s also crazy to me is that Deadlock will not be tied to the Half-Life universe. As the leaker noted, the game had initially sci-fi elements that were inspired by Half-Life and Portal. However, after some bad feedback, the dev team decided to remove them and focus on fantasy.
Now as with all rumors, we suggest taking everything you just read with a grain of salt. Gabe Follower has a pretty good track record, which is why we’ve decided to share this rumor.
Again, as a gamer, I’m not that happy with this next Valve game. I get why Valve wants to create this title. This may become a huge commercial success. It can also bring tons of money via micro-transactions. But man, this is Valve we’re talking about. The team behind both Steam and Counter-Strike. Do they really need another multiplayer cash cow? Why not go back to its roots and release a single-player game?
Anyway, Valve may soon officially reveal this game. Until then, though, I’m a bit disappointed by these latest leaks. Damn it, Valve. Count to three already.
Stay tuned for more!
