Microsoft has revealed the major improvements and enhancements that are coming in the next big Windows 10 update. This next major update, slated for the first quarter of 2010 2020, will bring a lot of improvements to various features, such as Cortana, network, notifications, calculator, Windows login, download throttlers and more.
Going into more details, Microsoft has updated the Network & Internet landing page in Settings. Via the new page, players will get more information at a glance about their device’s connectivity. This new page also combines several pages to give you one clear view of how you are connected to the internet. The New Network Status page will also offer a new view of active connections, as well as Data Usage.
Microsoft will bring a new Cortana experience to Windows 10 20H1. This new Cortana features a brand-new chat-based UI that gives you the ability to type or speak natural language queries. It will also support both light and dark themes in Windows. Not only that, but Microsoft has significantly improved its performance, making it faster and more reliable than ever before.
Furthermore, the new Calculator app that Microsoft will introduce will feature an Always on Top mode.
Another major feature that will be coming to Windows 10 is passwordless sign-in. Users will be able to enable passwordless sign-in for Microsoft accounts on your Windows 10 device by going to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, and selecting ‘On’ under ‘Make your device passwordless’. Enabling passwordless sign in will switch all Microsoft accounts on your Windows 10 device to modern authentication with Windows Hello Face, Fingerprint, or PIN.
Microsoft will also introduce Focus Assist, aiming to to automatically suppress notifications. It will also add the option to use middle click to dismiss notifications.
Speaking of Notifications, Microsoft has updated the design of the per-app notification settings for visual clarity. Notifications & Action Settings now has a checkbox for muting the sound of all notifications, and by default, the senders in Notifications & Action Settings are now sorted by “most recently sent a notification.”
Last but not least, Microsoft will introduce a new option to throttle the bandwidth used by Delivery Optimization. Users can set this separately for Foreground downloads (downloads that you initiate from Windows Store for example) or background downloads.
