NVIDIA has announced that the new Wolfenstein shooter, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, will feature real-time ray tracing effects in order to improve its visuals, as well as support for the NVIDIA Adaptive Shading in order to further improve overall performance.
Unfortunately, NVIDIA did not reveal any further details. As such, we don’t know whether MachineGames will be using ray tracing to enhance the game’s reflections, global illumination or shadows (or a combination of these three graphical effects).
Matt Wuebbling, head of GeForce marketing at NVIDIA, said:
“Wolfenstein: Youngblood is an innovative take on the original franchise, which has a rich history of using forward-looking technologies to set their games apart. Bethesda’s use of ray tracing dramatically enhances the image quality, while NAS boosts the performance.”
Wolfenstein: Youngblood releases on July 26th and it has not been specified whether these ray tracing effects will be available at launch or after the game’s release via a post-launch patch.
Enjoy!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
