Egosoft announced today a December 15th release of PC and Mac versions of X3: Albion Prelude, a new challenge in the X3 series, building up toward the launch of the all-new X Rebirth coming in 2012. The old X Universe is passing; a new X Universe is about to be created.
X3: Albion Prelude will feature a new plot that promises to throw you into the power struggle between corporations at a time of war, more than 30 new ships and stations, new Stock Exchange feature allows advanced investment strategies, improved graphics quality setting for high-end machines, improved user interface introducing charts to visualize economic developments and support for head tracking. We should note though that X3: Albion Prelude will not be compatible with save-games from X3: Terran Conflict.
X3: Albion Prelude will be available December 15th on Steam for direct download in English, German, and French languages (voice) and Italian (text only). Following the Steam version of X3: Albion Prelude Deep Silver will also release a special new retail edition with additional content in Q1 2012.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
