And here comes another modern-day Minecraft game, powered by an indie in-house engine. Upvoid Studios released yesterday a tech demo, showcasing what their Upvoid Engine is currently capable of. This engine – an engine that features destructible terrain and is mainly targeted towards dynamic open-world games – will power a Minecraft-like game, called SimpleMiner. The biggest issue, at the moment, is the lack of shadows, something that will be hopefully fixed in the next build of this engine. It looks cool, so go ahead and take a look!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
