Now here are two games you should not sleep on. ZERO PROTOCOL and CONSCRIPT are two horror games with retro pixelated graphics that have free demos on PC, and you should definitely try them.
Let’s start with ZERO PROTOCOL. This is a first-person science fiction thriller that aims to provide players with the atmosphere of classic 3D games. The game will let you solve puzzles, follow an intriguing non-linear storyline, and engage in battles with monsters.
Now what’s cool here is that the game will have numerous elements from the old/classic PC games. Players will be able to find passwords for doors, search for access cards for terminals, repair damaged equipment and combine items.
This is a game I’m really looking forward to, and its latest gameplay trailer looks “retro-amazing.” Seriously, just watch it. And, as I said, there is a free demo to download. Just head over to its Steam store page to download it.
CONSCRIPT, on the other hand, is described as a new take on classic survival horror. In this game, players will assume the role of a lone French soldier who must navigate twisted trenches, scavenge for limited supplies and solve complex puzzles. The game uses an isometric viewpoint, and has pixelated graphics.
The game promises to have levels that promote item management and route planning, whilst solving complex environmental puzzles. Players will also be able to fend off a variety of enemy soldiers and combatants with a variety of WW1 melee weapons and firearms.
According to the devs, the game also aims to be re-playable with various difficulty settings, multiple endings, unlockable costumes and bonus weapons.
Those interested can download the free demo for CONSCRIPT from here.
Have fun!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
