The PC UKIE Games charts for this week has just been revealed and as we can see, there are no big changes from last week’s charts. Football Manager 2012 is still at the top, followed by Star Wars: The Old Republic and Skyrim. Both Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 lost some places, while Shogun 2: Total War has managed to re-enter the charts. And as always, there are four ‘The Sims 3’ titles in the Top10 of the best selling titles in UK. Jeez. Futuremark is a talented studio. Although their first game, Shattered Horizon, didn’t meet a commercial success and its fan base was really small, it was amazing, addictive and full of great ideas. Needless to say that I was excited when I heard that the company was preparing a new game. But when I found out that Unstoppable Gorg would be a Tower Defense game, I got disappointed. And when I got the chance to,actually play it, I liked and enjoyed it, even though I’m not a fan of this genre. You see, most of the Tower Defense games require a ‘trial and error’ approach and… well… I hate that. And although this approach is pretty evident at the later levels of Unstoppable Gorg, it’s still a lot of fun. Continue reading Unstoppable Gorg Review→
Modder Vergis has released an interesting mod for Skyrim that offers additional performance to it. As you may already know, Skyrim is CPU bound and Bethesda didn’t take advantage of multi-cores. In addition, the special effects in this game, like snow and rainfall, are rendered by the already overtaxed CPU and not your GPU. Therefore, Vergis reduced the textures in those particle effects, and witnessed a nice performance boost. Vergis is using an i5-750 CPU and saw a 5-20 FPS improvement. Pretty good huh? You can find the download link as a comparison shot, as well as a video from the game’s Rift area, after the jump. Continue reading Skyrim Performance PLUS Mod comes with a 20fps boost→

We’ve seen a lot of recreations in Minecraft but this one looks really lovely and ideal for all Zelda fans out there. Project Hyrulecraft is a 1:1 reconstruction of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Minecraft. This project has been in development since May 2011, with the intent of being hosted on a custom built server. The Hyrulecraft multiplayer server will feature many RPG and MMO aspects such as quests, classes, experience and leveling, and a fan-written storyline that continues the story after the events of OOT’s child timeline. Remember when we told you, earlier last week, that Duke Nukem 3D would be coming to CryEngine 3? Well, it seems that another classic game will also find its way to Crytek’s engine. Mapper ‘Cleric’ was working in a CryEngine 2 map that would be based on the first level of iD Software’s little gem, but hit many walls and never got very far due to various problems. With the release of CryEngine 3’s SDK, the mapper decided restart that project in Crysis 2 and released some new screenshots from it. Cleric is currently recreating the first level, but there is a possibility for more Quake maps. Enjoy! Last week, we concentrated on the car models that most modders are creating these days, so we think that it’s fair to dedicate this week’s gallery to GTA IV’s environments. And it’s really amazing how some custom ENBSeries settings can actually increase the game’s image fidelity. Thanks to the modders, GTA IV looks amazing and can – sometimes – achieve photorealistic visuals. Enjoy the following screenshots from GTA IV’s modders Simple999, King of K, DarK64, goobz, Lycan_182, legacyy, schakusa, Dpeasant3, KingNK, sly1286, and pramkies.
