We’ve been hearing from a lot of publishers that DRM is the only way to protect their games against piracy. Well, there have been a few developers that were critisizing that – Croteam and CD Projekt RED are two of them that actually think that a quality game will sell, no matter what – and here comes Paradox Interactive to state what we’ve been saying this entire time. DRM is not working, it costs money to developers and makes the life of those that purchased the ‘DRM-games’ a living hell. Cheaters. We’ve played against them, we hate them. These people are the main reason we’ve stopped playing BF3 and thankfully, DICE has already started taking care of them. We knew that the company has been banning some of them and we are happy to report that this week, DICE has banned a significant number of BF3 cheaters. This is reasurring – to say the least – and we hope that the company will keep it up. After all, Battlefield 3 was full of cheaters these past weeks. Our dear friends at PCGamesHardware had the chance to interview Starbreeze and found out some juicy tech details about the upcoming Syndicate game. According to the company, Syndicate uses an advanced and evolved in-house engine, that comes with a global illumination solution and an optimized postprocessing pipeline. Sadly though, Syndicate won’t support the DX10 or DX11 API’s. And there is no need to point your gun to Starbreeze, as this is what we’ve expected. Syndicate is a multi-platform game (therefore it’s built on DX9 by default) and as we’ve said in the past, a proper DX11 game needs to be built from the get-go with that API in mind.
