Ubisoft has just released the first patch for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Title Update 1.0.1, which is 7GB in size on PC. This is just a hotfix, meaning that it does not bring any major tweaks, fixes or improvements. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
As the devs noted, Patch 1.0.1 fixes some global issues. Moreover, it fixes a Photo mode issue that could cause a crash when taking a photo. And… well… that’s it.
Ubisoft has not brought any performance tweaks or optimizations. So, don’t expect the game to run better than before. I’m just saying so that you can temper your expectations. This isn’t THE patch some of you may have been waiting for.
It’s also worth noting that, according to reports, SpecialK does no longer work with AC: Shadows. The game will hard crash now if you use SpecialK with the latest version of the game. As such, you won’t be able to unlock the game’s cut-scenes which are locked at 30FPS. My guess is that its creator will release a new version of it shortly.
There is currently no ETA for when the first major patch will come out. At least I hope that Ubi will do something about the game’s scalability issues. Right now, you can’t significantly improve performance by lowering your resolution. The in-game graphics presets are also questionable. While you can improve performance by dropping to Very High, you won’t get any performance gains when you get to High.
Anyway, like always, Steam and Ubisoft Connect will download this update the next time you launch their clients. Below you can find its complete changelog.
