baldur's gate 3 new feature-3

Baldur’s Gate 3 Update 5 released, brings major performance optimizations, full patch notes

Larian Studios just dropped Title Update 5 for Baldur’s Gate 3. This update makes the game run smoother, thanks to improvements made for the Xbox version that benefit all platforms. Larian also spilled all the details about what’s changed in this update, so let’s check it out.

Title Update 5 adds an entirely new section at the end of the game. This new Epilogue aims to provide a well-deserved sense of closure with your allies. The Epilogue has 3,589 lines of extra dialogue so yeah, the developers did put a lot of effort into it.

Larian Studios says that Act 3 in Baldur’s Gate 3 now runs better than ever. Act 3 used to have big performance issues on PC. As such, players can now enjoy higher framerates. And guess what? If you’re playing on a computer with low VRAM/RAM, you’ll also get an improved performance.

Now while we won’t update our PC Performance Analysis, we’ll be sure to test the latest version of the game for our Top 10 Most (and Worst) Optimized PC Games of 2023 list. These lists will go live at the end of December.

Patch 5 also improves the physics of characters and walls to prevent NPCs being able to shoot through ceilings inside houses. Not only that but it makes a number of cinematic tweaks. It also adds a brand new fight in Ramazith’s Tower. Oh, and the game now has two new play modes: Honour Mode and Custom Mode.

Do note that this latest update is huge. According to Larian, you’ll need 130GB of free disk space in order to install it. For those who don’t have enough free storage space, the devs recommend uninstalling and then re-installing the game.

Lastly, you can find the full patch notes for this latest update here. Since the list is huge, it made no sense to include its full changelog. Be warned that the patch notes also contain some spoilers.

Have fun!
