Colossal Order has released a new update for its city builder, Cities: Skylines 2. According to the release notes, Patch 1.1.2f1 adds support for NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution. This will greatly improve performance and image quality on the NVIDIA RTX GPUs.
Now while this update only adds support for DLSS Super Resolution, PC gamers can also use Lossless Scaling Frame Generation to further improve the game’s performance. As I’ve reported, LSFG 2.0 is in a pretty great state right now. So, by using both of them, you can finally run Cities Skylines 2 at high resolutions with smooth framerates.
Cities Skylines 2 was released in a pretty awful state back in 2023. In fact, it was among our Worst Optimized PC Games list of that year. So, it’s at least good to see the devs doing something to improve its performance. Yes, DLSS is currently doing the heavy lifting here, but it’s at least something.
Update 1.1.2f1 also brings some pathfinding optimizations to reduce slowing simulation. Moreover, it packs optimizations to reduce frame spikes. So, even without DLSS, the game should be running better now.
It’s also worth noting that this latest patch fixes a bunch of bugs, which means the game should be more stable and crash less. Now, mods are sorted alphabetically, which makes it easier to find what you want. Also, people in your city are more likely to use taxis from other places when they move in. And if you’re continuing a game from the launcher, it’ll pause and show any important documents you need to see.
As always, Steam will download this patch the next time you launch its client. Below you can also find its complete changelog.
