Now here is a pleasant surprise. NetherRealm Studios and QLOC released the June Update for Mortal Kombat 1 which, among other things, removes the 30fps cap from the PC version.
Going into more details, PC gamers can now enable a new experimental 60fps mode. This mode will allow all in-engine cut-scenes and fatalities to run at 60fps. However, all the pre-rendered videos will still be at 30fps. Moreover, this mode is only available in Offline Mode. While playing Online, this 60fps Mode will be disabled. NetherRealm claims that it has decided to disable it during Online Matches to avoid stability issues.
Nevertheless, this is great news. One of my biggest issues with the game was the 30fps lock during fatalities or X-Ray moves. So, it’s at least good to now have the option to enjoy them at 60fps.
The June Title Update also fixes several issues where players could get out of sync during online games. It also changes the camera movement when Homelander, Omni-Man, or Peacemaker are interrupted or hit high up off the screen.
Naturally, this patch also comes with a number of balance tweaks for pretty much all characters. You can find all these tweaks and changes below.
Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Do note that this update is quite big (around 9GB in size). Below you can also find its complete changelog.
