KOEI Tecmo and Team Ninja have released the April 10th Patch for Rise of the Ronin, which features a number of performance optimizations. So, let’s see what this new update brings to the table.
The April 10th Update, also known as Patch 1.09.0.3, has optimization improvements for rendering to reduce overall VRAM usage. It also comes with optimization improvements on GPU performance for Ambient Occlusion and Upscaling. So, in theory, the game should run better now than before.
It will be interesting to see whether the devs will keep improving the game’s performance. Right now, I won’t be re-testing RotR. However, I’ll be sure to check out its performance in one or two months.
The devs have also added a new graphics setting, Dynamic Adjustment of FPS. This option will change your framerate dynamically according to performance for a consistent gameplay experience.
It’s also worth noting that the patch fixes a weird issue where CPU load could increase significantly when Audio Output settings were set to “Surround” or “3D Audio Effects”, while the spatial sound was disabled in Windows sound settings. As such, CPU load should be lower now with these settings.
Moreover, the April 10th Patch comes with a number of bug fixes. For instance, it fixes visual noise issues during a specific cut scene. It also fixes an issue where the game would get stuck loading after restoring public order. Plus, it fixes an issue where the game would occasionally crash when switching languages during gameplay.
Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Below you can find its complete changelog.
