A lot of Game Pass PC players were disappointed with Still Wakes the Deep. You see, this new UE5 adventure game did not support NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS at launch. However, The Chinese Room released yesterday a patch to fix this.
So, Patch 1.3 for Still Wakes the Deep adds support for NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS to the Game Pass version. Curiously enough, there is no mention of Frame Generation. Thus, we can assume that the Game Pass version only supports DLSS, FSR and XeSS Super Resolution. I don’t have access to the Game Pass version so I can’t see whether that’s indeed the case. If this is indeed happening, the Game Pass version is still inferior to the Steam version.
Speaking of the Steam version, The Chinese Room has fixed all of the DLSS issues we’ve reported. Right now, you can use DLSS Quality Mode (without the game reverting back to the Balanced Mode). The devs have also added support for DLSS Ray Reconstruction. However, I could not spot any differences at all when enabling it. There were still multiple Lumen/Ray Tracing artifacts. So, I don’t really know what’s going on here.
Moreover, AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Generation is still busted. As with the previous version, this setting does not seem to work. Again, I don’t know why the devs have not fixed this (as they are fully aware of this issue).
Anyway, Title Update 1.3 also comes with a number of bug fixes. You can find all of them below as I’ve included its full changelog.
It’s also worth noting that the devs added a Yellow Markers toggle in the settings menu. When set to “Reduced”, additional yellow markers (such as yellow paint stains) will be removed to increase exploration difficulty. This does not affect objects such as ladders, railings, etc.
Like always, Steam will download the patch the next time you launch its client. The update is also really small (around 100-200MB in size).
Stay tuned for more!
