Deus Ex RTX Remix New Screenshots-5

Classic Deus Ex looks better than ever with the latest version of the Echelon Renderer, which adds support for NVIDIA RTX Remix Path Tracing

In May 2024, we shared an RTX Remix Mod for the classic Deus Ex game. Since then, Jongbloed has been working on fixing and improving it. And a couple of days ago, the modder released a new version of the Echelon Renderer. So, let’s take a look at it.

For those unaware, Deus Ex Echelon Renderer is a fixed-function rendering pipeline intended for use with NVidia’s RTX Remix. This renderer is written from scratch to provide render calls in the most compatible way with RTX Remix.

Since V0.2.3, the modder has added support for gouraud shading. He also fixed an issue where FDynamicSprite hijack was not restored properly. The latest version also disables optimization that caused meshes to disappear when not viewed directly. The renderer will now also try to approach Deus Ex’s original lighting falloff.

But perhaps the biggest change is the following one. JC will now cast shadows and he will show up in reflections. As such, the game can now be more immersive than before.

To showcase some of these visual improvements, NVIDIA’s Jacob Freeman shared the following screenshots. So, go ahead and take a look at them.

Before closing, I should remind you that the Deus Ex Echelon Renderer is still in the beta phase. In other words, things will only get better from here. So, don’t judge the game and its Path Tracing implementation yet.

Those interested can download the latest version of the Deus Ex Echelon Renderer from this link. To enable support for RTX Remix, you’ll have to follow its installation guide.

These past few months we’ve shared a lot of RTX Remix Mods for various games. In January 2023, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2,  Grand Theft Auto: Vice CityManhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most WantedUnrealTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Midnight Club 2. In March 2024, we also shared the first screenshots from the RTX Remix Mod for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Finally, you can check out some early RTX Remix videos for Fallout: New Vegas and Half-Life.

Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus ExTomb RaiderMax PayneNerf Arena Blast and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for NFS: Underground and Underground 2. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2Quake, and Serious Sam.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
