Redfall new feature 2

Despite promises, Redfall is still broken after 3 whole months

Microsoft released Arkane’s latest FPS game, Redfall, in May 2023. Powered by Unreal Engine 4, Redfall came out with major visual and graphical issues, as well as gameplay and AI bugs. Basically, the game was broken at release. And, after three whole months, the game remains in a really awful state.

In June 2023, Arkane released the game’s latest hotfix patch. Back then, Microsoft claimed that it wouldn’t abandon the game despite its many issues. However, after three whole months, the game did not receive any other major update to address its countless issues.

Redfall requires a major re-launch. However, after three whole months and with a lot of highly anticipated triple-A games coming out in the next couple of months, we can safely say that all gamers have lost interest in it.

We seriously don’t know whether Arkane will be able to turn the ship around. If it manages to revamp it, this will be a greater comeback than Cyberpunk 2077. However, it will still be nowhere close to what we saw with No Man’s Sky and Final Fantasy 14.

Redfall was one of the biggest disappointments of 2023.

In conclusion, I’m certain that the game will, one day, receive a new gameplay update. However, this may be too little too late. Ironically, this feels almost identical to what we saw with Saints Row. Saints Row also came out in a completely broken state in August 2022, and it took Volition three months to release its first major gameplay patch. By that time, though, the game was dead and no one was interested in it.

Let’s also not forget that October is a “horror” month and Redfall features “dark” elements like vampires. So, in a way, it makes sense for Arkane to release a new update later this month. However, we expect a lot of games to come out in October. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT.

So there you have it, everyone. Regardless of promises, Redfall is still broken on Xbox and PC. In its last 24 hours, the game had a peak of 35 players on Steam. So, its only saving grace is that it’s in Xbox Game Pass. And, when Arkane finally releases its “Patch 2.0”, there will be at least a fanbase for it!
