Modder ‘ScoutBr0’ has just released two must-have mods for The Witcher 3 Next-Gen. These mods improve the game’s Ray Tracing Reflections and Shadows, and enable Ray Tracing Mirrors.
Going into more details, the first mod aims to significantly improve the quality of ray-traced reflections and shadows. As such, reflections more accurately reflect the environment, and shadows are cast more accurately across the environment. This mod will only improve RT Reflections and Shadows. It will not make any changes to RT Global Illumination or Ambient Occlusion.
Below you can find some comparison screenshots. So, which ones do you think are the modded screenshots? Can you spot the improvements?
From the looks of it, this mod has a moderate performance penalty. The modder saw a 7-14 FPS hit when using it. This is to be expected really. After all, the mod improves the quality of RT. Still, you should keep that in mind before trying it. If you can hardly run the game with Ray Tracing, you should avoid it.
Let’s now talk about the second mod. This mod uses Ray Tracing in order to enable RT Mirrors. By using it, you can improve the game’s visuals, especially in indoor areas. Here is a comparison screenshot between the vanilla and the modded mirrors. Quite an improvement, don’t you think?
You can download these Ray Tracing Mods from here and here.
Speaking of The Witcher 3 Next-Gen, you may also want to take a look at these other mods for it. For instance, you can download a really cool first-person mod. Furthermore, the Characters Reworked Project improves the quality of over 100 characters. Yesterday, we shared a must-have gameplay overhaul mod. Let’s also not forget this mod that lets you kill most in-game NPCs. In December 2023, we shared this mod that restores content that was cut from all previous The Witcher games. Then we have the Witcher 3 Next-Gen Combat Redux Mod. You can also download the first version of the NextGen HD Reworked Project. Earlier this month, we shared a mod that attempted to remove the fake “hero” light from the game’s cut-scenes. Finally, you can get 8K Texture Packs for Ciri, Triss Merigold, Geralt and Yennefer.
Have fun!
