NEXON has just released its latest Souls-like game, The First Berserker Khazan, on PC. Powered by Unreal Engine 4, this game supports DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Gen out of the gate. As such, we’ve decided to test it at 8K. Can you get a playable experience at such a high resolution? Time to find out.
For these 8K tests, I used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, and NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090. I also used Windows 10 64-bit and the GeForce 572.83 driver.
For those wondering, there is no in-game setting to enable DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Gen. Instead, NVIDIA allows you to enable both DLSS 4 SR Transformer Model and MFG via the NVIDIA App.
At 8K/Max Settings with DLSS 4 Performance Mode and MFG X4, we were getting over 170FPS on the NVIDIA RTX 5090.
By only using DLSS 4 Performance Mode (so no Frame Gen at all), we were getting framerates over 70FPS at all times.
The good news here is that since we have this really high base framerate, we were not getting any major input latency issues with MFG X4. Not only that, but I did not notice any major visual artifacts. This is a pleasant surprise as a lot of games suffered from visual artifacts when using MFG X3 or X4.
In case you’re wondering, at Native 8K, the NVIDIA RTX 5090 can push framerates between 35-45FPS. By using MFG X4, you can increase those framerates to 100FPS. However, I don’t recommend something like that.
DLSS 4 Performance Mode with the Transformer Model looks amazing in this game. However, for those with an NVIDIA RTX 4090 or an RTX 5090, I recommend using the Quality Mode at 4K. After all, The First Berserker Khazan does not appear to be a demanding title. Thus, you can take full advantage of the visual fidelity of the Quality Mode. Yes, even at 4K.
Our PC Performance Analysis for The First Berserker Khazan will go live later this week. I’ll also be sure to update this article with an 8K video. Well… once YT has finished processing it.
Stay tuned for more!
