Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod keeps getting better and better

YouTube’s ‘skurtyyskirts’ has shared another video from his WIP RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. In this video, the modder showcased the Chinese Embassy. This is a never-before-seen environment, so let’s take a look at it.

As skurtyyskirts noted, he has fixed some of the culling issues that appeared in earlier versions of the mod. The modder disabled object culling in the runtime which prevents lights from hijacking the lighting in a scene that were placed in the toolkit. However, lights are still disappearing in the RTX Remix version.

From the looks of it, the toolkit does not allow the ability to see where lights begin/end to properly light a scene to match the original game’s style to align with the detector meter. And, that’s the biggest issue of this mod.

As we all know, Splinter Cell is a stealth game that relies heavily on its lighting. So, for this RTX Remix Mod to work, it must match the lighting of the original title.

The good news here is that skurtyyskirts wants to get as close to the original lighting as possible. By doing so, the RTX Remix version will be fully playable. So, let’s hope that the modder will figure out a way to achieve such a thing.

For those wondering, this RTX Remix Mod has not been released yet. That’s a good thing. The last thing you want is people calling the mod useless, especially when it’s still a WIP. I mean, just look at what happened with the Max Payne RTX Remix Mod.

These past few months we’ve shared a lot of RTX Remix Mods for various games. In January 2023, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2,  Grand Theft Auto: Vice CityManhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most WantedUnrealTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Midnight Club 2. In March 2024, we also shared the first screenshots from the RTX Remix Mod for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Finally, you can check out some early RTX Remix videos for Fallout: New Vegas and Half-Life.

Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus ExTomb RaiderMax PayneNerf Arena Blast and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for NFS: Underground and Underground 2. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2Quake, and Serious Sam.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
