Call of Duty 2 RTX On-1

Call of Duty 2 looks unbelievable with RTX Remix Path Tracing

Modder ‘tadpole3159’ is currently working on an RTX Remix Mod for the multiplayer mode of Call of Duty 2. And although there is no ETA on when it will come out, you can find below some screenshots from it. And oh boy. Get ready for a treat as the game looks unbelievable.

So far, the modder has updated the classic Carentan Map. The scenery has been upgraded, adding more detail where there used to be flat surfaces. Tadpole3159 also plans to fill each empty room in the buildings with furniture and objects that fit the time period. Yep, the modder will go to great lengths to improve everything. This may end up as one of the best RTX Remix mods. Or at least it looks better than most of what we’ve shared so far.

What’s really cool is that the modder will add a day-night cycle with dynamic lighting. This means battles can happen at night, lit up by gunfire and street lamps. Inside buildings, the sun and moon will provide light, along with lamps giving off the right kind of glow. Everything will look more detailed and realistic, with surfaces that react to light in a lifelike way. Even water will mirror what’s around it.

Weapon scopes are now more realistic, using advanced technology to show how light bends and reflects. When bullets hit something, they will now leave real-looking marks. The bullet casings will be also highly detailed and shiny. Not only that but they will reflect the world around them. They will stay on the ground after being fired, and the battlefield will be covered with them by the end of each match.

As said, there isn’t any ETA on when the mod will come out. However, here are some comparison screenshots from it. On the left, we have the vanilla COD 2 screenshots. And, on the right, you can find the RTX Remix shots. And… just look at them. No seriously, look at them. COD 2 came out 19 years ago. But now, it looks like a modern shooter. It’s pretty crazy what RTX Remix can do to such an old game.

The only downside to this mod is that it will not be compatible with the single-player campaign. Tadpole3159 will be only enhancing the MP maps. At least for now. And man, that will be a real bummer. I’m certain that a lot of COD fans would love to play the SP with Path Tracing. So, let’s hope that the modder will change his mind.

These past few months we’ve shared a lot of RTX Remix Mods for various games. In January 2023, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2,  Grand Theft Auto: Vice CityManhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most WantedUnrealTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Midnight Club 2. In March 2024, we also shared the first screenshots from the RTX Remix Mod for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Finally, you can check out some early RTX Remix videos for Fallout: New VegasTom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, and Half-Life.

Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus ExTomb RaiderMax Payne, and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for NFS: Underground and Underground 2. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2Quake, and Serious Sam.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
