Prophecy Games is currently working on a new Tribes game, and it has shared the first screenshots from it. These are screenshots from an early build, so don’t expect them to wow you. Still, they can at least give you an idea of the game’s art style.
For those wondering, Prophecy Games owns the Tribes IP rights. So yeah, this will be a new official Tribes game. Not only that but the developers will most likely launch a playtesting on November 29th and 30th. From what I know, this will most likely be a public playtesting, meaning that everyone will be able to participate in it.
Unfortunately, we don’t know much about this new Tribes game. We don’t know whether it will be a full-priced or a free-to-play title. We also don’t know the engine that it will be using. My guess is that this is Unreal Engine. Or at least that makes sense. After all, Tribes: Ascend was also powered by Unreal Engine (UE3 to be more precise).
Visually, the game looks… fine I guess? From what I can see, Prophecy Games has managed to retain the art style of Tribes: Ascend. That’s definitely great news for all Tribes fans. And again, these are screenshots from a very early build. So yeah, at least we can cut the team some slack. Let’s at least hope that it won’t have any major performance issues.
Enjoy the screenshots and stay tuned for more!
