Black Mesa is a remake of Half-Life in Source Engine that was released back in 2015. That remake did not feature the Xen environments of Half-Life and today the Black Mesa team released the first screenshot of Black Mesa’s Xen environment.
The Black Mesa team is currently focusing on Black Mesa’s Xen gameplay, aiming to craft a fun and cohesive experience from start to finish.
“We want our version of Xen to feel like it really belongs with the rest of the game in terms of mechanics, cohesion and progression. But we also want to push the boundaries and explore this unique and varied setting; to build an experience that feels both fresh and familiar to players from all walks of Half-Life veterancy.”
The team concluded that while its Xen environments will look gorgeous, it is first and foremost committed to making sure that the gameplay works on every level.
The team did not reveal when its Xen environments will come to Black Mesa, however it did state that it will release more media and details in the coming months.
Enjoy!
