The Astronauts has released five new screenshots for its upcoming first-person dark fantasy shooter, Witchfire. Witchfire is said to be a first-person shooter focused on challenge and mastery, that is being made by eight people, targets a 2020 release and won’t be story-based.
The game will be using Photogrammetry and will be powered by the latest version of Unreal Engine 4. As the development team revealed a while back, it’s currently porting the project to Unreal Engine 4.22.
The Astronauts is currently putting emphasis on Witchfire’s gameplay mechanics, and has been experimenting with various ideas. And while the game will not be story-driven, it will have a lore (my guess is that it will have similar ideas to Dark Souls), will feature a lot of enemies to slaughter and will have some boss battles.
Basically, and from what we’ve heard so far, Witchfire feels like a Dark Souls-type of game in first-person mode with weapons and gameplay mechanics that The Astronauts has developed/expanded since the days of the first Painkiller game.
Enjoy!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
