It’s that time of year again. 2013 is almost upon us and promises to be a great year. Well, that is if the Mayan prediction was not accurate enough and the world doesn’t end tomorrow (though we all know that we’ll be just fine and nothing ‘bad’ will happen). So, our dear readers, we’re presenting you our Top10 most optimized PC games of 2012. Before starting, let us tell you that our Top10 is based on those games’ performance under DX9 and DX10. DX11 did not take off in 2012, and that’s why we did not focus on it. However, our GTX690 will serve us well in 2013, so rest assured that our upcoming Performance Analyses will also cover this API. You know what? I really love Remedy. Okay okay, they pointed their gun on that fan-made movie (and I still believe that they shouldn’t) but they’ve done everything in their power to please PC gamers. Alan Wake PC was an incredible port, there was a significant post-launch support, Alan Wake: American Nightmare appeared on Steam’s registry meaning that the team is willing to bring this new Alan Wake game to the PC sooner than later and they made a great deal with GoG. If you haven’t purchased Alan Wake PC yet, here is your chance. Continue reading Alan Wake is now available on GoG and is priced at $14.99 until May 15th→
A couple of weeks ago, Remedy decided to give PC players something extra with their freshly released patch for Alan Wake and enabled a free camera mode for it. Naturally, a lot of PC gamers tried to enjoy this new feature and were met with an awkward requirement. In order to use this mode, players had to use a gamepad. As you’d expect, some of them went ahead and complained to Remedy about it, and today the company felt the need to explain why this mode requires a gamepad. Remedy has released a hotfix patch for the PC version of Alan Wake. This hotfix fixes some crashes that occurred with Alt-Tab in SLI configurations, the saving of assigned keys so that both Numlock on/off states work and can be defined separately, as well as command line handling so that invalid input does not cause the game to enter unresponsive state. As always, the update will be auto-downloaded next time you start the Steam client and you can view its changelog below. And after the sad story about Remedy’s stance on the fan-made film from DDCN Productions, here is some great news for all PC gamers. Our beloved company has just released the third patch of Alan Wake PC that comes with SLI support, the addition of a new control system, a free camera mode to explore the game’s world and major stereoscopic 3D improvements. As always, the update will be auto-downloaded next time you start the Steam client and you can view its changelog below. Enjoy everyone! I’m really shocked with Remedy’s stance at an upcoming fan-made movie that will be based on Alan Wake. The team behind it is called ‘DDCN Production 2011’ and posted on Remedy’s forum a supposedly location backstage teaser for their movie. Now let’s get one thing straight here; those fans are really low on budget and they don’t obviously possess the means to make a Hollywood movie. This is understandable and we can also see the reason behind ‘borrowing’ some material from various documentaries. This is a bloody non-profit movie guys. Let us say it again; this is a fan-made, non-profit film. Continue reading Remedy point their gun at a fan-made upcoming Alan Wake movie→
Great news for Nvidia users, as Remedy has almost finished the work on their latest update for the PC version of Alan Wake. According to the developers, the third update of Alan Wake PC will come with SLI support and major fixes for Nvidia’s 3D Vision. Unfortunately, the update will not hit Steam this weekend, however there might be a beta version of it later today or tomorrow. Brandon Ridener has released an amazing, animated short film that is based on Remedy’s psychological thriller, Alan Wake. This animated short has been in production for a little over a year and as the title suggests, it’s a tribute to Alan Wake. In this short, Alan faces a Taken while he searches for his wife. It looks gorgeous, so be sure to check it out. Congrats Brandon! Continue reading Alan Wake Tribute – Animated Short Fan Film→
Nvidia users have been waiting patiently for a working SLI profile of Alan Wake PC. It took Remedy a while, but they have finally finished the SLI fixes for the game. Although the company had previously stated that they would release the fixes the moment they were completed, Remedy’s co-founder Sami Vanhatalo said that they have to wait first for the next driver update of Nvidia (that will include an SLI profile for the game). After that, Remedy will release the fixes via a Steam update. Continue reading Remedy: Finished the SLI fixes for Alan Wake PC, working on 3D Vision→
