AMD has released two new videos in which the red team reveals the reasons why both Mantle and DirectX 12 are really important to PC gaming. As AMD noted, both Mantle and DirectX 12 will benefit existing customers, and will offer better performance for all games supporting them. Microsoft has been working with GPU hardware manufacturers to find you ways the GPU can be enabled to do the best rendering techniques with great quality and performance, and DX12 is the fruit of that collaboration. DX12 aims to fully exploit the GPUs supporting it. In addition, DX12 was the result of common goals as everyone participating in this program wanted to resolve performance issues that could not be resolved otherwise. Enjoy! Nvidia’s GeForce 337.50 Beta Are Great But Not Equivalent To AMD’s Mantle Performance Boost
Nvidia today released its latest beta driver for its graphics cards. According to their release notes, the GeForce 337.50 Beta drivers pack key DirectX optimizations which result in reduced game-loading times and significant performance increases across a wide variety of games. Moreover, these gains were said to be noticed in CPU bound titles, therefore we decided to give these drivers a test. The end result pleased us but the performance boost is not as good as the one witnessed with AMD’s Mantle. AMD’s Mantle Developer Beta Program Begins This April, Will Go Public Afterwards
During GDC 2014, it has been revealed that AMD’s Mantle program for developers will begin this April. According to the following slide, Mantle’s Beta SDK website will be opening this April. The catch here is that access to it will be limited to a select few. In short, don’t expect small indie developers to get their hands on it. Still, the good news is that after that beta program, Mantle will be available to everyone. Continue reading AMD’s Mantle Developer Beta Program Begins This April, Will Go Public Afterwards
