AMD TressFX 2.0 – Technology Overview & Analysis Video
RedGamingTech has posted a new video about AMD’s TressFX 2.0. According to AMD, this newer version of TressFX comes with better performance and easier integration into games. In addition, TressFX 2.0 can be used for other things besides hair, like grass and fur. Last but not least, TressFX 2.0 will offer – in optimal scenarios – 2X the performance of TressFX 1.0 and will feature a better LOD system. Here Is Your First Look At AMD’s Mantle, Showcasing Spectacular Space Combat Sequence
Like most of you, we’ve been wondering when we would be getting a video with AMD’s Mantle in action. And here it is. AMD has released Oxide Games’ APU13 presentation, in which the has showcased the first live demo of Mantle. The demo starts at around the 25:00 mark, and showcases an epic space combat battle. AMD Catalyst 13.12 WHQL Drivers Leaked
Saphire has just leaked the official 13.12 WHQL driver for AMD’s graphics cards. Although there aren’t any release notes yet, this driver works with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. AMD’s Mantle Does NOT Require GPUs With GCN Architecture
Okay, I’m pretty sure that both AMD and DICE have been misleading people on purpose these past weeks regarding Mantle. That, or they decided to ditch Mantle’s GCN-architecture requirement, something that seems highly unlikely. During AMD’s Developer Summit, Johan Andersson confirmed that Mantle is not tied to AMD’s GCN architecture, meaning that there isn’t such requirement. AMD Kaveri APU Showcased, Has Double The Performance Of Intel 4770K With A GeForce GT630
AMD’s Developer Summit is currently underway and yesterday the company showcased its new APU, the Kaveri. AMD’s Kaveri – the A10-7850K – was put against an Intel i7-4770K paired with an Nvidia GeForce GT630. Without a discrete GPU – and without taking advantage of the Mantle API – the A10-7850K has double the performance of the aforementioned combo in Battlefield 4. There is a video from that demonstration that can be viewed below. AMD’s Kaveri APU was running Battlefield 4 at 1080p and medium settings with 28-40fps while the i7-4770K + GeForce GT630 combo was running it with 12-15fps. Thief Will Officially Support AMD’s Mantle, TressFX 2.0 Announced
AMD’s Developer Summit will begin shortly, and we’ve already got some interesting news for you. A couple of days ago, Square Enix stated that it would support AMD’s Mantle, though we had no official word on Thief supporting it. Well, we just got a confirmation. During AMD’s event, Nixxes Software’s Jurjen Katsman (yeap, once again Nixxes is handling the PC version of EIDOS Montreal’s title) will speak about Thief, Mantle, 4K gaming and AMD’s TrueAudio. AMD Catalyst 13.11 Beta9.2 Released, Improves Performance In Call of Duty: Ghosts
AMD has released a new set of beta drivers for its graphics cards. According to its changelog, AMD’s Catalyst 13.11 Beta9.2 (weird name, we know) improve anti-aliasing performance and update the AMD CrossFire profile for Call of Duty: Ghosts.
