AMD Catalyst 12.1 WHQL and 12.2 Preview Drivers Released

AMD has rolled out two new Catalyst drivers for their graphic cards, therefore, PC gamers can choose between the 12.1 WHQL and the 12.2 Preview drivers. According to the release, AMD’s Catalyst 12.1 WHQL fixes the random graphics corruption or game instability that were present in the Crossfire mode of Crysis 2, the random corruption and screen flicker that was present in Dragon Age 2 with Tri-Crossfire enabled and the corrupted water textures in World of Warcraft’s DX9 mode. Radeon 7970 Round-Up; AMD is back with a punch

And it’s finally been revealed. AMD’s latest high-end GPU model that is based on the ‘Tahiti’ chip has just been unveiled and it’s the fastest single-GPU card on the market. Which was to be expected but what are the performance gains that PC gamers can expect from it? According to the earlier leaks, Radeon 7970 was expected to be 60% faster than Nvidia’s GTX580. Sadly though, the card is not that much faster. There are cases where the gap between these two cards is almost around 50% and it’s definitely the faster single-GPU, but it’s nowhere as fast as we wished. Oh, and the card can’t touch Nvidia’s dual-chip offer, the GTX590, despite earlier rumors suggesting that it would be almost on-par with it. Major leaks of Radeon 7970’s Performance; up to 60% performance boost from a GTX580

In case you were unaware of, the embargo of AMD’s latest GPUs will be lifted in December 22nd and a lot of leaks have been happening these past days. As always, take everything you are about to read with a grain of salt. Guru3D’s members have been posting these slides that come from various sources. From the slides that got leaked, we can see that Radeon 7970 offers up to 60% better performance than a GTX580. In addition, Fudzilla claimed that Radeon 7970 is as fast – and sometimes faster – than Nvidia’s GTX590. Moreover, we can see the final -rumored – specs for pretty much every middle-high end 7xxx card. All in all, we’ll know in three days what the real specs of AMD’s latest GPUs are and how they perform. Until then, take an early look at these slides. Timothy Lottes Violator released a new version of his handful tool, FXAA Inject Tool. FXAA Post Process Injection – as is its full name – injects different post processing methods to games, like Anti Aliasing, Sharpening, Bloom, Color Tones etc. FXAA is a cost effective Anti Aliasing process done in one single pass, which means that it has virtual no impact on the overall system performance. Oh boy, this is a great day for all AMD fans out there as two Catalyst drivers have just been released. These are not leaked drivers but official ones, coming straight from AMD. Therefore, get ready to test both Catalyst 11.12 and a preview version of the upcoming 12.1 drivers. Well, we guess that everyone will go for the 12.1 preview version but we’ll provide you with the release notes of both drivers, so you can pick whichever suits your needs. AMD Catalyst 11.11C Performance Driver Released

Great news for all AMD fans as the Red team has released a new version for their Catalyst drivers. According to its release notes, Catalyst 11.11C come with improved performance on Batman: Arkham City, as well as AMD CrossfireX performance scaling for AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series and improved performance on single GPU configurations that is up to 7% on Skyrim. These drivers are also essential to all PC assassins as they feature improved performance on Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Download links and full release notes after the jump. AMD Catalyst 11.11b “Performance Driver” is now available; Skyrim CrossFire enabled

Well looky here, we got us a new performance driver. AMD has just released a new set of drivers that offers better performance in a number of games. Moreover, this driver enables CrossFire in Skyrim. The driver is dated to November 25th and supports pretty much all of the red team’s cards. In other words, waste no time and get it while you still can. AMD Catalyst 11.11a performance driver released; performance gains in Batman, RAGE and Skyrim

AMD released yesterday a performance driver that is based on the Catalyst 11.11. This new driver is compatible with the AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series and 5000 series and brings gains in Batman: Arkham City, Skyrim and RAGE. Therefore, make sure to download and install it if you are playing these games. Catalyst 11.11a also comes with some fixes for Battlefield 3. Those interested can download this driver from here. AMD Catalyst Application Profile – 11.9 CAP4 Is Out Now

AMD released the latest Catalyst Application Profile for their cards. This new CAP provides great CrossFire scaling and resolves stuttering issues when running in CrossFire mode in Battlefield 3. This means that all those Intel users will be able to enjoy DICE’s little gem with HT enabled. Hell yeah. In addition, this new application profile improves the CrossFire performance in Deus Ex: Missing Link, F1 2011, Dead Island and the DX9 version of Batman: Arkham City.
