Bohemia Interactive has released a major new update for the Arma 3 Alpha. The most notable improvements in version 0.58 involve the new dedicated combat and stealth radio protocols, plus all-encompassing tweaks to lighting and audio. Also, Multiplayer Dedicated Server administrators now have access to a separated executable to host such servers more conveniently. Not only that, but Arma 3 now supports PhysX 3.2.4 (perhaps the first title supporting the PhysX 3 SDK). This update will be auto-downloaded from Steam, and you can view its complete changelog below. Metro: Last Light’s shot showcases an outdoor environment in all its glory, while ArmA 3’s screenshot gives us a glimpse at a – new? – environment. According to its release notes, this patch comes with minor optimizations for dynamic light, fully enables the Fog effect, and fixes serialization of particle emitters. YouTube’s member ‘Dslyecxi’ has posted a video in which he showcases the newly impressive fog effecs that Bohemia added to its military sim FPS title, ArmA 3. And quite frankly, this is the best fog effects we’ve ever seen. Contrary to other titles, ArmA 3’s fog looks like a… real fog. Now imagine a new Silent Hill – or another horror – game with that kind of fog. Man, that would be too good to be true. Screw that, imagine a DayZ mod for ArmA 3 with this feature enabled.
