With all the talk about the CryEngine 3, some gamers felt the need to showcase the beauty of the Frostbite 2.0 engine. One of them is YT member ‘AnglSummer4’ we made a nice video, filled with some gorgeous locations from Battlefield 3. Does this show off the beauty of the engine? Well, it’s hard to tell as we’ve seen some pretty amazing maps from the Crysis 2 modding community. Still, Frostbite 2.0 is one hell of an engine and let’s not forget that it will be used to the upcoming sequel of Command & Conquer: Generals. It will also be interesting to see whether or not other studios – that are not under EA’s flag – will actually use it. Until then though, enjoy the following video! Battlefield 3’s DLC is almost upon us – unless you own a PS3 – and as you may have heard, it brings a new way of unlocking the new weapons in Battlefield 3. Assignments are being implemented and bellow you will find the full list and details in how you can unlock all ten Back to Karkand weapons. Now I have to say that I’m not a fan of this kind of unlocks and strongly believe that unlocks should stay the way they were. Still, DICE’s attempts to offer something new to the table are noted. One of the most controversial changes in the latest patch of Battlefield 3 is definitely the rebalanced IRNV. Contrary to the PS3 changes though, the PC changes that were made to the IRNV are quite different. The PC version seems better overall, however you still can’t see – pretty much – anything. Not only that, but there is a crucial bug where the IRNV returns to the pre-patch state when your health drops under a certain point. Now that’s really awesome and we have a video of this bug in action. Enjoy everyone and yeah, DICE stay true to their roots and are introducing new bugs with each and every new patch. Hooray! Admit it, you were a bit jealous that PS3 gamers could witness the fall of the antenna tower in the Caspian Border. And although DICE hadn’t revealed when this feature would pass on the PC version, look and behold as the latest PC patch that was released today features it. Oh yeah, PC gamers can now see the ‘falling antenna tower’ in the Caspian Border map. Moreover, both Battlelog and the PC patch are live right now, with the patch weighting over 3.5GB. DICE added some interesting features and in case you weren’t aware of, Ping is now present in the scoreboard and the chat window has been tweaked and moved to the top left of the screen. Furthermore, Battlelog has now more filter options as PC gamers can filter things like kill cam, vehicles, squad leader spawn. Enjoy some footage of the falling antenna from a PC match after the jump.
In other news, the Back to Karkand Expansion is live now on the PS3 and in order to celebrate its launch, DICE has released a new trailer, featuring explosive PlayStation 3 gameplay from the all-time classic map Wake Island.
Now that’s really hilarious. As you may already know, Battlefield 3 does not properly support VoIP. Yes, you are still able to use it but that’s thanks to Battlelog as DICE’s platform offers this feature and not the game itself. Of course, there are various issues due to this decision and it seems that DICE is not willing to fix them by properly including VoIP support to Battlefield 3. The reason? It’s bad business. Wait what? Continue reading Battlefield 3 – No plans for VOIP PC changes; bad business to properly fix it→

We know that a lot of Battlefield 3 gamers wanted DICE to nerf the IRNV and the company promised to do so in its latest patch. Well, the PS3 update of the game went live on November 30th and look and behold how the nerfed IRNV looks like in the latest version. To be honest, DICE could simply remove it as right now it is really useless in the PS3 version – at least in the Metro map. Gotta love that fog that covers everything when you’re using it. However, all hope is not lost. Continue reading Battlefield 3 – This is how the nerfed IRNV looks like in the latest version→
