New Black Mesa Xen Engine hotfix update released, improves dynamic shadows, lighting and performance

The team behind the amazing Half Life Black Mesa, a fan remake of the first Half-Life game in the Source Engine, has released a new hotfix update for it. According to the release notes, this hotfix improves most dynamic shadows flickering, most dynamic lights flickering on lower quality levels Nvidia GPUs,  features settings optimization for new deferred lighting and shadows, and improves the overall quality and performance. New Black Mesa patch overhauls its graphics, featuring dynamic lighting, deferred rendering and more

Last month, Crowbar Collective claimed that a new patch would overhaul Black Mesa’s graphics. And today, we are happy to report that this update is available to everyone. Black Mesa’s December patch overhauls its graphics engine by adding new features such as dynamic lighting and deferred rendering, and it looks absolutely great. Black Mesa – Mod Version (2012) versus Retail Version (2015)

Imgur’s member ‘NateDGreat3‘ has released some interesting comparison screenshots between the 2012 and the 2015 versions of Black Mesa. As we’ve already said, the retail version of Black Mesa is powered by a new engine and these screenshots showcase some of the improvements that were introduced thanks to it.
