PC gamers, get ready for a mod that will leave you speechless. DayZ is a Zombie mod for ArmA 2 that has enormous potential. Remember how Counter-Strike was revolutionary back in the Half-Life days? Well, DayZ is that good and offers a unique experience. Unlike all other Zombie games, this mod focuses on human interaction/emotion and survival. When you start off you have a pistol with a couple mags, some water and a can of beans. You have no map/compass and have no idea where you are. And then the fun starts. Bohemia Interactive has released a new beta version for the remake of the classic Carrier Command game. This second version of Carrier Command: Gaea Mission’s Beta fixes some issues that were reported from the community and adds a Film Grain effect, DoF and better weather effects. In addition, trees should appear like ‘dancing’ as the wind should be having a consistent effect on a collection of trees and the Map should be a little animated when you have zoomed out. Good news for ArmA fans as some new footage from ArmA 3 has emerged. Czech gaming channel “Gamepage.cz” interviewed Bohemia’s Ivan Buchta in which the YouTube gaming channel has featured some new footage from the company’s upcoming military sim. Although the footage was captured in low-res, it looks great and you’ll be able to take a look at the new Stratis island. ArmA 3 is currently slated for a late 2012 release on the PC. Enjoy! YouTube’s member ‘MulleDK13’ has uploaded an interesting analysis of the ‘Stratis Showcase’ trailer for ArmA 3. As MulleDK13 points out, ArmA 3 features new and improved physics, heat haze effects, volumetric clouds, improved muzzle flashes, as well as improved lighting and clouds at night. Truth be told, we were a bit worried about Carrier Command: Gaea Mission. You see, Bohemia is a talented team there is no doubt about that. However, their engine was seriously bugged – back in the days of ArmA 2 and Take on Helicopters – and suffered from a lot of performance issues. Well, good news guys as the remake of Carrier Command uses a different engine that runs amazingly well. This newly, in-house engine, is GPU bound and did not stress our CPU even when there were firefights on-screen. Way to go Bohemia. This video is basically a sneak peek at an upcoming intel update, and a chance to see some of the new lighting and animations at work.
