Here is a nice surprise. The gorgeous-looking racing game from Slightly Mad Studios, C.A.R.S. or Community Assisted Racing Sim, has now been renamed to Project CARS. Seems that Slightly Mad Studios wanted a different name as C.A.R.S. wasn’t very search friendly on the web. But who really cares as the game looks lovely and as we told you yesterday, a new build is available to all Team Members. Slightly Mad Studios released a new build for their racing sim, C.A.R.S, and here are some brand new screenshots from that build. As always, the detail on the cars is simply amazing. C.A.R.S looks great and could be a great rival to SimBin’s racing games. C.A.R.S is based on a new development model, so it will be interesting to see whether or not this ‘community-based’ development is worth the effort. We all pretty much know The Stig from the Top Gear series. Everyone was impressed by his driving skills and pretty much all of us wanted to be in his shoes. So when the former ‘Stig’ and race driver, Ben Collins, is saying that C.A.R.S is as good as real-life simulators, you really know that Slightly Mad Studios little gem is something unique indeed. In addition, Ben Collins has also joined Slightly Mad Studios and their WMD-powered C.A.R.S. project last month and has compared the developing title to professional driving simulators. I’m shocked. I truly am as I already know that C.A.R.S looks amazing. But this level of detail is simply mind-blowing. This could easily pass as a ‘bullshot’ or a photoshopped picture but no, this is real-time guys. This is what the game looks like in close ups when you are actually driving. This… this is truly the future – graphically speaking – of racing games. And especially the road looks so… real. Yeah, we can finally say that a game looks real. Slightly Mad Studios released a new build for their community-based racing sim game, C.A.R.S. This new build also adds a new Ariel Atom car and Ross Siggers went ahead and captured some screenshots to showcase it. As always, the level of detail is extraordinary and keep in mind that this is the actual car you’re driving. If things go well, C.A.R.S. could pretty much be one of the most successful PC racing sim games. Let’s hope that Slightly Mad Studios will further tweak the game’s driving system model towards simulation. Enjoy! Team Members can now compete against up to 15 AI opponents in races of up to 99 laps while the Test Track is designed as a personal playground to test your vehicle’s performance/handling/power.
