Square Enix has released a new patch for the Steam version of Chrono Trigger. According to the release notes, this patch adds a new battle user interface (UI) based on the look and feel of the original game, an option to select between the UI optimised for controller/keyboard mentioned above, and the current UI optimised for mouse & touch panels, and a new pause button/key that can be used during battle. Square Enix has announced that it will release a number of patches for Chrono Trigger over the coming months. The first patches will be coming later this month and although the publisher did not share their release notes, it did reveal that they will add an option to switch between the current high-resolution graphics and the original SNES visuals. A few days ago, we informed you about a mod for Chrono Trigger that removed the bilinear filtering from it. However, and even though things got improved, this mod did not remove the filter that was applied to the tilesets and sprites. The PC version of Chrono Trigger disappointed a lot of gamers as it was basically a port of the mobile version.
