I tell you, this is a bad start for a new racing game. A couple of hours ago we informed you about Codemasters’ upcoming sequel to GRID. Awesome news, right? Codemasters and Namco Bandai announced today that both F1 2012 and F1 RACE STARS will be playable at GamesCom 2012 in Cologne, Germany from August 15th to 19th. NAMCO BANDAI Games’ stand, located in Hall 9, Stand C11, will host the world’s first hands-on showing of F1 RACE STARS and the reveal of the recently announced ‘Champions Mode’ in F1 2012. Codemasters today announced a brand new game mode for F1 2012. ‘Champions Mode’ will enable players to take on each of the six FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONS competing in the 2012 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in individual race scenarios designed for quick play and instant action. Codemasters has released a teaser trailer for – what looks like – a sequel to Grid. It’s been almost four years since the last Grid title, so we are interested to see what Codemasters has in store for us. Grid got birth from the team that was behind the Toca series. Race Driver: Grid (also known as Grid) was the latest installment in the Toca Touring Car series, a series that evolved to something completely new (as the initial Toca games were classic racing games with circuits). If you had already gotten DiRT Showdown, you might have noticed a Global illumination option. This option is disabled for some people and naturally, PC gamers searched and found a way to enable it. However, there is no point in experimenting with it as Codemasters has – intentionally – disabled Global Illuminationuntil the first patch. According to the company’s community manager, HeliosCM, the PC version of DiRT Showdown will receive an update that will enable this feature and include other optimisations to make the game run faster.
