Crytek In Deep Trouble – Adoption of CryEngine Not Good, Ryse Development Catastrophic [UPDATE]

YouTube’s member “18T220” has created a bathroom environment in CRYENGINE, thus showing how flexible and powerful Crytek’s engine can actually be. This environment looks amazing, so kudos to 18T220 for achieving visuals surpassing those found in a lot of games. Here Is What Star Wars Episode I: Racer Could Look Like In CRYENGINE

This project is being created by Polycount’s member ‘Benkeeling‘ who has decided to ditch Unreal Engine 4 over CRYENGINE, and has posted some new images from it. According to the artist, Unreal Engine 4 was “pretty cumbersome to use due to the long build times for lighting and now compiling materials which is really disappointing.” Enjoy and kudos to NeoGAF for sharing our original story about Benkeeling’s map! This video shows realistic refractions, fully dynamic collision with objects, rising water levels, realistic friction, dynamic water ripples and screen space deformation. It looks really cool – especially if you consider the fact that it was created by a modder and not by Crytek itself – so go ahead and give it a go!
