E3 is the place where you’d expect to see Crytek’s upcoming bad boy and thankfully, you will. Although there has not been any talk about it, we can confirm today that the game will be present at this year annual game trade show. Powered by Crytek’s in-house engine, CryENGINE 3, Crysis 3 advances the state of the art with unparalleled visuals and dynamic shooter gameplay. Players take on the role of ‘Prophet’ as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. You do remember the Crysis 2 backlash when Crytek revealed that it was going to be a multiplatform title, right? PC gamers were worried about that change and feared that this simultaneously development would impact the PC version. And frankly, they were right. Crytek’s Cevat had stated – before the game’s release – that the company would not invest in features that could not be made into consoles and when Crysis 2 got out, PC gamers found out that the PC version was a simple port of the console one and nothing more. Sure, there were some improvements to the game’s textures (and some graphical features that were only present on the PC) but the game, at its heart, was created with consoles in mind. Crytek and Electronic Arts have revealed some new screenshots and artworks for Crysis 3. These new shots showcase the same level that was featured in the first pack of screenshots. What’s really striking here is that the lighting system seems way better than the one used in both Crysis 1 and 2. Crytek has nailed it and Crysis 3’s TOD looks phenomenal. Ah, Crysis 2. There was so potential after Crysis 1 and Crytek did really f’ it up. PC gamers were expecting a similar experience to the first part of this franchise, but they were let down by their beloved studio. And finally, after this whole time, Crytek decided to reveal that Crysis 2 was made with casual gamers in mind. Which is what we’ve been saying from the get go but… well, at least they admitted it. As promised, Electronic Arts and Crytek have revealed the first gameplay trailer of Crysis 3. This trailer is influenced by Inception, meaning that you’ll get lots of different scenes with extreme montage (and the usual ‘booooom’ ‘boooooom’ bassline in the background) and you won’t be able to fully enjoy the scenery or the art design. From the looks of it, Crysis 3 looks similar to Crysis 2, although the environments have been reworked and look better than before. As promised, Crytek has revealed a teaser footage for their 2013 CryEngine 3 powered FPS, Crysis 3. This teaser shows some breathtaking graphics, with warm lighting effects, smoother animations and a step forward to introducing more believable TODs.
