Today we bring you new shots from 3D artists and CryEngine 3 modders Glode, scotthomer, Rens, chicken, QuadReaktor, ReVan1199, EliteGhost and i59. The highlight of this week is undoubtedly scotthomer’s finished Bioshock environment, as well as Rens’ finished environment based on Bungie’s Halo. These two guys will be featured in the next issue of the online Vertex magazine, so make sure to keep an eye on it. Crytek has rolled out a new update for Crysis 3, as well as a new data patch for its multiplayer mode. According to the company, this new update comes with a number of fixes. Going into more details, patch 1.2 fixes particle shader causing black squares/broken shading on some graphics cards, shadering issue with underwater fog, as well as the root cause of some graphics driver crashes. Well, we already knew that Crysis 2 and 3 were limited by its consoles counterparts. Still, it’s good to see companies admitting that, and here comes today Cevat Yerli who stated that even Crysis 3 was limited by current-generation consoles. Yes, Crysis 3 is a great looking game on the PC and Crytek did exceptional things with it (great scaling on both CPU and GPU, even though it’s demanding as hell), however – and as we’ve stated about those physics calculations – the team did not take it to the next level. Crysis 3 has been unleashed on the PC and it’s time to see how Crytek’s latest FPS title performs on the PC platform. As you may have heard, Crysis 3 is a DX11-only title and we have to confess that it sports the best visuals we’ve ever seen. However, it seems that CryEngine 3 is being pushed to its limits with those physics calculations that were introduced. Ironically, all physics are calculated by the CPU, meaning that you will nee a really top of the line CPU in order to enjoy it. But more on this later. Crytek has detailed the first update for Crysis 3, as well as a Data Patch for the game’s multiplayer mode. The first update is currently available for the PC version, and will be released shortly for both X360 and PS3. The Data Patch B, on the other hand, is available on all platforms right now. According to its changelog, this update comes with particle optimisation and significant optimisation to Medium detail settings. Our dear readers, unfortunately our GTX 690 has not arrived yet, meaning that our Performance Analysis for Crysis 3 will get slightly delayed. As you may have heard, though, the first level of Crysis 3 seems to be behaving really strange, even on high-end PC systems. Ironically, it appears that the game suffers from some optimization issues, as modder MaLDo has discovered that the ropes physics are causing big performance hits for no apparent reason. Electronic Arts and Crytek have released a launch trailer for Crysis 3. According to its description, Crysis 3 has an immersive single player campaign taking place in the Urban Jungle of NYC and a well-developed multiplayer featuring 8 different game modes and 12 unique maps. Crysis 3 has been unlocked on various regions and PC gamers have already put Crytek’s latest FPS title to the test. YouTube’s member ‘ResetLoad’ has made a comparison between the various graphical preset options. ResetLoad used a Core i7 Sandy Bridge @ 4.5ghz with an NVidia Geforce GTX 690 and 8gb Vengeance RAM. To be honest, Crysis 3 looks fine even on low settings. Naturally, there are various low-res textures (even on Very High settings) so let’s hope that MaLDo will be able to create a Texture Pack for it. Enjoy!
