Crysis fans, get ready to drool all over your monitors. Remember that amazing tech demo that featured scenes from Crysis 3 and was released a couple of days ago in YouTube? Well, let me tell you this: you have not seen what Crysis 3 is capable of. Why you ask? But because it was so compressed – due to YouTube’s algorithm – that you really failed to notice the amazingly high-resolution textures that Crytek has used. Crytek and Electronic Arts have unveiled a new multiplayer mode for Crysis 3, called Hunter. Hunter supports 16 players in which two players are the hunters and 14 are C.E.L.L soldiers. And truth be told, this is a mode we’ve been looking forward to. From the moment we saw Crysis, we wondered what a Predator game would look like in CryEngine 3. Well, although there isn’t any proper ‘Predator’ total conversion yet, this new mode is the closest we’ll get to the Predator movie. So kudos to Crytek for implementing it. Crysis 3 is currently scheduled for a 2013 release on PC, X360 and PS3. Enjoy! Continue reading Crysis 3 Multiplayer Hunter Mode revealed and puts you in Predator’s shoes→

Louis ‘shados’ Thomann has created an interesting Crysis 2 machinima movie, called The Extinction. This machinima is based on Crysis 2 and tells a different story, in which the US army didn’t win the war against the alien invasion. According to Louis, The Extinction is the first episode of an incredible Post-Apocalyptic Series, that takes places after the Crysis 2 storyline, into a devasted world. Louis had also created – back in April – another gorgeous C2 machinima movie called Woods. Therefore, we decided to include both of his movies below. Enjoy! Crytek’s nanosuit FPS appeared on the PC in 2007. Although it was a graphical masterpiece and was criticized by some PC gamers for its system requirements, it was profitable and made the company realize that it had something good on its hands. But did you know that Crytek was also developing – back in 2008 – a game that looked similar Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us? Today we bring you new shots from modders the_grim, Puppy, Synce, airage, hostilis, TheChan, axeldev, sunnlok, walid-payne and Thomy. Our highlight this week is Puppy’s tropical level. In all honesty, CryEngine 3 has achieved photorealism with this tropical shot from Puppy and we can’t wait till we get our games looking like that. What’s really amazing here is that Puppy used all materials that are currently available in CryEngine 3’s SDK. No custom textures, no new high resolution assets. Everything you see was available when the SDK got released, meaning that this IQ could be achieved months ago. You may remember a similar shot that was featured in an earlier CryEngine 3 gallery but this is the final version of Puppy’s level. We’ve also included some CryEngine 2 shots from the work of blackhorizon (the four last ones), as well as a video from wjmoosting’s level. Enjoy the images after the jump!
